A first look at a new setting guide for Arkham Horror RPG
Dearest Dreamers,
It’s Leah here, one of the game developers for Asmodee’s Edge Studio. It is with an immense amount of excitement that I am here to announce more brand-new, delightfully supernatural Arkham Horror RPG content for you to add to your collection of esoteric tomes.
But before that, let’s do a quick recap on what we’ve released (or announced) so far:
- Starter Set – Hungering Abyss: a starter box filled with tons of material that acts as an entry point for players new to the Arkham Horror RPG and those who might be new to roleplaying games in general;
- Arkham Horror RPG Core Rulebook: the foundational release that outlines the rules for the game, gives folks the ability to create their own investigators, and offers a ton of lore about the world of Arkham Horror;
- Arkham Mysteries: a book containing three investigations set in and around the city of Arkham;
- Premium Adventure – Terra Antarctica: an absolutely jam-packed campaign box filled with tons of terror beyond fathom.

And now it’s time to cue the ominous drumming and cultish chanting as I introduce a brand-new product type: our first setting guide, Dreams of Kingsport!
Inside this 160-page hardcover book you’ll find lore for both the iconic, mist-shrouded town of Kingsport, Massachusetts and the fabled and bizarre realm of the Dreamlands. In a series of future articles I’ll give you a more detailed peek at each of the chapters of the book, but for now here are some of the highlights to whet your appetite for more Arkham Horror RPG content:
- A brand-new archetype for players to use: the dreamer, an adept visionary who can find inspiration in even the most horrifying of moments. Includes an entire new roster of knacks for the dreamer to tap into.
- A dozen mini-mysteries to spark inspiration and give GMs a place to start when featuring many of the different locations introduced in the Kingsport and Dreamlands chapters.
- New equipment, relics, tomes, and the addition of ship profiles and guidance on sailing, whether at sea or in the skies!
- The introduction of a new type of reward that investigators may encounter on their adventures–favor, a mechanic that gives special perks for winning the approval of certain people and creatures.
- Over a dozen new NPC profiles that include both classic Arkham Horror enemies and potential allies as well as all-new Dreamlands-inspired entities and creatures.
- A deeper look into two Ancient Ones mentioned in the Core Rulebook, plus the inclusion of a new Other World and an Ancient One we haven’t previously introduced into the RPG.
- An adventure, Dream Manifest, that features both Kingsport and the Dreamlands, so GMs and players can dive right into the new setting materials!
- One double-sided poster map and one smaller double-sided battlemap (the battlemap is included to enhance the included Dream Manifest adventure).
So, in short, this book is awesome (in our opinion) and I’m looking forward to giving you a closer look at it over the next several articles to really drive home how cool we think it is.
That’s all for now. Oh, and dreamers, don’t forget to store your body somewhere safe when practicing astral projection! –Leah Hawthorne
